About

What I work on

Besides school, I work with the San Diego County Amateur Radio Council (SANDARC). It's a nonprofit organization that a few of us have been working to improve. My role as vice president is mostly technical, involving managing the IT infrastructure, writing software, and taking part in organization-wide planning and leadership.

I'm also working toward starting an undergraduate research project at UC Irvine. The details are still in the works, but the core idea involves low-latency distributed networking. I'm super excited about it and looking forward to officially kicking it off in the winter quarter.

Radio

I hold an amateur radio license in the U.S. under the callsign N6IRN, and I founded and ran the Wireless Technology Club at Irvine Valley College. It's a hobby that I'm truly grateful for because of the people I've gotten to meet and how much I've learned about electronics through it. I also got to learn Morse code: -.-. --- --- .-..

There is a very active and knowledgeable community of amateur radio operators in the U.S. and around the world. I think they're especially important because they know how to establish their own communication methods without relying entirely on existing infrastructure that may or may not be controlled by large corporations you have no say in.

Next steps

Over the past few years, I've developed a lot of interest in infrastructure and DevOps-related work, along with hands-on experience doing both. I'm now looking for an opportunity to apply those skills in a professional setting beyond my current academic and volunteer work.

Education

B.S. Software Engineering at UC Irvine, expected June 2027. Before that, I completed an A.S. in Computer Science at Irvine Valley College in May 2025.
